Members have contacted us concerned that the Heartbleed bug, that is widely reported as affecting server software running up to 2/3 of the internet, may have compromised the security of their anonymous Stockhouse member account. We can assure our members that we do not run the software affected by this bug and that after performing additional audits of our systems, we are confident that we have not been impacted by the Heartbleed bug.
Specifically we do not have OpenSSL installed on any of our servers. This is the Open Source software that is affected by the issue.
We do however recommend that all of our members continue to follow best practices around securing and protecting yourselves online as your information can still be compromised by other affected websites you may interact with. A search on Google will provide many suggestions on ways to do this.
Sincerely,
The Support Team at Stockhouse
