The Stockhouse Community was built to be a place where all members are respected. We are predominantly a Canadian membership, although we have members from all over the globe. We recognize that there are different cultural norms and backgrounds represented within our community. However, we use the Canadian/U.S. english language as the basis of our norms on site.
Our expectation for the language used on site is that of a downtown public place in a typical city. Curse words are not entirely forbidden, but those that are used to insult, harass, marginalize, or intended to provoke are not welcome on site. Some words are black-listed, and we restrict their use entirely.
We target all content and look for triggering words that indicate profanity or vulgarity is being used. We will review all posts reported or highlighted by our internal processes. If, in the sole determination of the Community Specialist, the post contains offensive profanity or vulgarity, it will be removed. Persistent violations will lead to the member’s account being restricted from posting any content on the site.
Guidelines
- Don’t curse
- Don’t use vulgar terms or phrases
- Don’t attempt to ‘mask’ profanity or vulgarity to circumvent this policy (e.g, s*&t). We look for this and remove posts for it too.
- Be respectful and, more importantly, civil in the language you use
